Up Front and Behind the Scenes of Senior Portrait Sessions
When high school students (or parents) call me to discuss booking senior portrait sessions they invariably ask what the sessions are like.
I tell them that we can go to several locations during the shoot and that they should bring several changes of clothes, and fill them in all of the other details. They also receive a written overview along with a list of what (and what not) to wear.
But sometimes kids just want to see what it’s like in advance, to get some ideas and “picture themselves” at their own shoot. I totally get that!
So here’s a very quick video of a two recent senior sessions. You really get the feel of what a senior portrait session is like from both sides of the lens.
Right off the bat you’ll see the outfit changes give you a wide variety of “looks” – from super casual to a little dressier and everything in between. I also suggest to girls and guys that they bring a few accessories – a hat, jacket, sweater, sunglasses, that kind of thing – to compliment their clothing choices.
You’ll also see that we use lots of different backdrops. Whether we are in the hills of Palos Verdes, the sand of local beaches, the alleyways of San Pedro, or around the architecture of downtown Los Angeles, we’ll move around a bit and try several types of scenery.
Finally, what I hope you’ll see is that the sessions are relaxed and fun. Yes, fun. I take lots of photos and you get to choose the ones you like best.
Enjoy the videos and contact me if you have questions or if you’d like to set up a session. You just might make it into my next video!
