I have one regret about my one (and only) pregnancy…I never had “real” maternity portraits taken by a professional photographer. At the time, I didn’t realize the importance of documenting this amazing period of my life. Sure, I have several snapshots taken during each trimester but none really captured the pure joy I felt about bringing a new life into this world. As I look back at that time, I really wish I had a “do over” to plan a maternity session!
Luckily, I now get to live vicariously through my pregnant clients and work with them to plan their maternity portraits. When I learned my friend, Allison, was expecting, the first thing I asked was, “When do you want to do your pregnancy photos?”
My goal is to make these sessions as easy as possible for moms-to-be. The session can be held on location at a local park or the beach, or we can shoot at my home studio. I take it even a step further by providing gorgeous gowns and other maternity wear designed by a maternity photographer (shout out to #TAoPAN).
Allison was a treat to work with and very at ease in front of the camera. She was expecting a girl and she loved the fun & fluff of the pink tulle skirt I chose for one set of images. We also went with a dove grey halter gown because of its simple elegance – which perfectly describes Allison!
Are you you expecting or know someone who is? I would love to hear from you and share more details about my maternity sessions. Feel free to comment on this post or phone me at 310.800.3099.
