Photography for Marketing
I had the pleasure of working with Maria Mizzi of Beach Physique Fitness recently. Maria is in the process of extending her already successful “in person” fitness and nutrition business by providing her services on-line as well. To do so Maria needed professional images to support her brand and to show her personality – aka photography for marketing.
Prior to the session Maria and I talked about her goals and based upon what she described, I knew that she wanted something more than the typical “head shot” or fitness trainer photos. To get the desired outcome, I provided her with wardrobe recommendations and gave her a list of possible settings for our first session.
For this session we focused on capturing Maria’s fun-loving, healthy spirit. Street clothes, rather than workout garb, allow Maria to use these images in a variety of ways – on her website, in direct e-mail, in her blog, and in the articles she writes for other fitness blogs and magazines.
Here are a few of my favorite shots. These images show Maria as a vibrant, healthy woman who happens to be a fitness expert, rather than a fitness expert who happens to be a woman.
As you see, I shot in the studio and outside — three different locations and 3 different outfits — and all told I took about 100 images in our session time. This gave Maria lots of photos to choose from and allows her to have a number of options for any given marketing piece.
Maria is so creative, I can’t wait to see how she uses these images to promote her business.
If you know someone who is looking for photography for marketing that goes way beyond-the-ordinary, please let me know. I love helping businesses project the right image… and I love seeing them thrive and grow using photos that show off their style and personality.
